On Friday night, I was able to see the stars come out. It had been a long time since I watched the heavens come clearer. The air was fresh. The temperature just right for walking. Car sounds, happy people, tree frogs and Kirtan in my head. I felt very connected.
One of my intentions in starting Jules Pilates Studio is to create community. A Kirtan is such a nice way to do this. MaaShakti and his joyful energy gets us humming, swaying, and yes even singing in harmonies together. I sit next to people I have never met, and we just send love out into the universe. It sounds kinda hokey, kinda new-agey, but if you look at it, it really goes back to the roots of humanity. You get out your instruments, ones that hum, ones that bang or bop or whistle, and you sit around with other folks and praise the joys of life and hope that you may overcome obstacles. Why very ancient and folky indeed!
If you missed Maa, don’t worry he’ll be back (watch the events page or Facebook for new dates), and we’ll have another Kirtan that you can come to. In the meantime, you can come to another musical meditation.
